Sports, Recreation & Exercise

Our Sport, Recreation & Exercise course is ideal for anyone with an interest in sports, and will prepare you to progress to a wide range of sport-related Higher Education courses. In addition, you will have the opportunity to complete additional certification in coaching and fitness training. We’re linked with the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and you will have opportunities to further your skills and coaching abilities in a range of team sports.

You will study the theory of Sport and Recreation, fitness, nutrition and a range of team coaching awards. You will study the theory required to gain an understanding of the various elements of the sport and fitness industry. This combination of practical and knowledge study will support you to access a range of career opportunities. You can progress to Higher Education courses, or directly to work.

Sport was always part of my life but after my Leaving Cert I was working here and there. As I matured I decided to connect my life with sport and benefit people. The Sport, Fitness and Exercise course was an amazing experience for me and it helped me to overcome my communication fears. This course gave me lots, motivated me during the academic year, built my confidence and provided lots of opportunities. Now I know who I am and what I want to do for rest of my life – dreams come true!

  • ITEC L2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym-based Exercise) ISP2C5
  • VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Sport and Fitness Sessions IP2A5
  • GAA Coaching Award – Foundation Level
  • Sport Ireland – Child Safeguarding Level 1
  • FAI – Kickstart Soccer Coaching
