Student Life

Carlow Institute is within walking distance of the town centre. Carlow is also home to two Higher Education providers – South East Technological University (SETU) and Carlow College – making it a student-friendly destination with a great mix of services, nightlife and leisure facilities. Carlow is an incredibly popular choice for students with plenty of opportunities to meet new people and make new friends.

Things To Do

VISUAL Carlow is an award-winning Creative Arts complex in the town centre. The centre hosts regular exhibitions of national and international artists, and a vibrant programme of film, music, drama and dance. As partners, Creative Arts students from Carlow Institute work with VISUAL/George Bernard Shaw on events and productions. Further afield, you can access festivals and events including music, literature and arts. For those who like the spot-light, there are local performing groups, and cultural and historical societies to join.

Carlow is home to many sporting opportunities. You will find Carlow Rugby club, Carlow Lawn Tennis Club, Carlow Athletics, Carlow Rowing Club, many GAA clubs and other sports pursuits within easy reach. Carlow town has many sport and leisure centres, and Carlow Institute students can avail of student memberships for many of these.
