General Facilities

Teaching and Learning Facilities
Programme Coordinators
Each course has a dedicated course coordinator overseeing the academic content and progression of our students.
Class Teacher
Every course has a weekly tutorial class with an assigned class teacher. The role of class teachers is pastoral in nature offering students a supportive environment to progress their participation and attendance.
Student Library
This is an open-access space over two floors that allows students access computers and photocopying facilities, enabling them to engage in self-directed study and work on projects and assignments.
Student Email Account
Each student will be provided with an office 365 email account providing access to Office 365 apps – Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, OneNote, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Moodle
Our Virtual Learning Environment containing calendars, assignment briefs, notes and resources online. Students can access Moodle at any time and from any location. Pertinent information on essay writing, referencing and study skills etc. can also be located in this environment. Important announcements, information and updates, alongside policies and procedures, can be found on Moodle. Completed assignments will be submitted through Moodle.
Guidance Counsellors
The Institute offers students a comprehensive Guidance Counselling Service. This service provides help in the areas of career guidance, personal and educational support. The service encourages students to make informed decisions about career choice and planning and the successful completion of their course.
Student Council
All students are automatically affiliated to the Student Council, thus facilitating student voice and views.
SUSI
Applications are made online to Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) through www.studentfinance.ie and payments are monitored monthly by our SUSI officer.
Erasmus+
Carlow Institute offers students an opportunity to participates in Erasmus+. This programme enhances student experiences in an international context.
Graduation
Each year Carlow Institute celebrates the academic achievements of its students through its renowned graduation ceremony.

Students who would benefit from a tour of the building or a more in-depth introduction to the college, should contact us in advance of the academic year so that all queries can be addressed.
